Joe brought his family, including two visiting German relatives out for a sunset sail on Lake Union last Saturday. The German relatives are sailors of an alpine lake in the Alps and much enjoyed the juxtaposition of this urban aquatic adventure! Joe was very interested in learning to sail so Captain Patrick gave him a taste of life at the helm.
While Captain Patrick gave Joe some sailing tips, the Germans taught us that that many sailing terms are the same in German as they are in English, such as lazy Jacks and rudder or ruder in German. We enjoyed taking out such an engaging and curious group and loved giving visitors a different taste of sailing than what they may be used to.
